For the fourth edition of the World Soundtrack Awards, big names from the world of film music are welcomed back to Ghent. The WSA honours well-established artists such as Jerry Goldsmith and Alan and Marilyn Bergman, while also showcasing emerging talent, including Sioen and Antonio Pinto.

For the fourth time in a row, Film Fest Gent sheds light on an often overlooked branch of the industry: the art of film scoring. With three symphonic concerts the festival gives film music the attention it deserves.

During the World Soundtrack Awards Ceremony & Concert, taking place on 9 October, the Flemish Radio Orchestra, conducted by maestro Dirk Bross, performs scores by Lifetime Achievement recipients Alan and Marilyn Bergman, as well as Belgian talents Sioen and Wim Wenders. The Jerry Goldsmith Tribute Concert honours yet another icon presenting a selection of his best work for film. Celebrating the start of his European Tour, Film Fest Gent proudly hosts the European premiere of Howard Shores ‘The Lord Of The Rings Symphony: Six Movements for Orchestra and Chorus’, conducted by the composer himself.

Offering a look behind the screens of the film music industry, the annual film music seminar tackles the relation between non-original and original music, and the rights that are at stake.
