The 14th edition of the World Soundtrack Awards draws to a celebratory close with the annual WSA Ceremony and Concert on the 25th of October, celebrating the work of composers Cliff Martinez and Francis Lai.

Once again the international film music industry and passionate film music fans gather in Ghent for the presentation of the annual World Soundtrack Awards. Central guest at this year's Ceremony is American film composer Cliff Martinez. And in keeping with the 41st festival's theme 'Cinéma Français', the legendary film composer Francis Lai is awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award. Their music, as well as scores from Dan Romer (Beasts of The Southern Wild), Discovery of the Year 2013, and Jef Neve (In Flanders Fields) are performed by Brussels Philharmonic and conducted by maestro Dirk Brossé.

Through a unique film music concert, Nino Rota's superb film scoring will be celebrated on the 23rd of October. The first half of the concert focusses on film scores for composers Luchino Visconti, Franco Zeffirelli and Francis Ford Coppola. The second half of the concert is dedicated to Nino Rota's scores written for Federico Fellini's films, like La Strada (1954), Amarcord (1973), La Dolce Vita (1960) and many more.

Offering background to the concert programme, the Film Music Industry Panels and the Film Music Seminar zoom in on a wide range of hot topics, such as composer's rights and the future of symphonic film scoring. The 41st Film Fest Gent's focus on Cinéma Français is also extended to the Film Music Seminar, where Thierry Jousse, Bruno Coulais and Philippe Sarde share their wisdom.
