Celebrating 25 years of music written for the big and small screen, the World Soundtrack Awards honour the masters of this precious art. The annual World Soundtrack Awards Concert & Ceremony, taking place on the 15th of October, features sweeping scores from both upcoming and established composers, including those of this year's guests of honour: Debbie Wiseman and A.R. Rahman. During the ceremony, Poor Things composer Jerskin Fendrix passes the torch of Discovery of the Year on to Daniel Blumberg (The Brutalist).
The Lifetime Achievement Award is presentd to two minimalist pioneers who though us that less is indeed more: Philip Glass and Michael Nyman. There musical legacy is brough to life by Brussels Philharmonic, conducted by Maestro Dirk Brossé, alongside recent work by Emilie Levienaise-Farouch and Martin Phipps. These British composers show what minimalist music can mean today - a genre that pauses witout ever standing still.
Alongside the concerts, the WSA Film Music Days offer a unique occassion for film music fans, composers and professionals to do a deep dive in the wokring process of composers like Debbie Wiseman, Theodore Shapiro, and Adiescar Chase. During the the Screen Music Professionals Round Tables, a brand new concept, composers and professionals discuss what's at stake in the industry.
