The 11th edition of the World Soundtrack Awards once again presents an exciting variety of events and concerts. The annual World Soundtrack Ceremony & Concert takes place on the 22nd of October 2011, in 'T Kuipke. This year, we are delighted to present prolific composer and 'father of disco' Giorgio Moroder with a Lifetime Achievement Award.

This year’s World Soundtrack Awards Ceremony & Concert takes place on the 22nd of October 2011, at ‘t Kuipke in Ghent. For this edition’s tribute concert, the incredible scores of composers Hans Zimmer, Howard Shore, and Elliot Goldenthal are in focus. The Lifetime Achievement Award is presented to Giorgio Moroder for his incredible career and his tremendous impact on the art of film music. A selection of his scores, along with those from the 2010 Discovery Award winner Abel Korzeniowski, are also performed by Brussels Philharmonic, conducted by maestro Dirk Brossé.

On the 12th of October, Film Fest Gent presents the concert Maestros of Suspense at De Bijloke. The concert honours the iconic, yet bone chilling, scores of Bernard Herrmann and Franz Waxman, and are performed by the Belgian National Orchestra under maestro Dirk Brossé.

Other events include a screening of Benjamin Christensen's Häxan with a live performance of a newly composed score by Frederik Croene, a zZmogh Workshop on filmmusic, a Meet & Greet, and the Film Sound Seminar, which offers a conversation with Walter Murch on the ins and outs of sound design in the film industry.
