The Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to Ryuichi Sakamoto at the 16th World Soundtrack Awards Gala on the 19th of October in Ghent, following the festival’s spotlight on Japanese cinema. A selection of his work will be performed by Brussels Philharmonic conducted by Dirk Brossé.

We are very pleased to announce EPAS as a one-year postgraduate in the creative potential of sound both of itself and as part of a multi media practice. This international program is organized by The School of Arts (Gent), NFA (Amsterdam) and ifs (Cologne).

Every year the Advisory Board of the World Soundtrack Academy chooses a ‘Discovery of the Year’ to celebrate emerging film composing talent. Famous composers as Klaus Badelt, Antonio Pinto, Craig Armstrong, Michael Giacchino, Gustavo Santaolalla, Nico Muhly, Abel Korzeniowski, Alex Heffes, Dan Romer, Daniel Pemberton and last year’s Antonio Sanchez were discovered by the WSA Advisory Board.

Live Track Cinema on the 28th of May is completely SOLD OUT! But no worries, due to the enormous success we scheduled a second performance of STUFF. 's live soundtrack to 'A Page of Madness'. Tickets for the second performance on the same date at 21h45 are available now! Live Track Cinema is an initiative by KASKcinema, Democrazy and Film Fest Gent where pop- and rock musicians are invited to bring image and music together. Not your ordinary concert or film but exciting cutting edge audio visual experiences.

World Soundtrack Awards needs your help! Early May we proudly announced our World Soundtrack Lifetime Achievement Award recipient Ryuichi Sakamoto. Like every year we want to treat musiclovers to exclusive renditions of their favourite scores even after the World Soundtrack Gala with a unique album. This album will be a collection of Sakamoto's scores, for the first time focused on his entire body of work in film and television rather than just on one film at a time. The scores will be brought to life by Brussels Philharmonic conducted by Dirk Brossé. To achieve this goal we started a Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign.

'The Revenant' will be released on Blu-ray & DVD on May 25. Ryuichi Sakamoto, this year's World Soundtrack Awards guest of honour, composed the score for the Oscar hit. The program for the 16th World Soundtrack Awards is complete. The Gala and concert will showcase the music composed for today’s top television shows and for legendary series from our youth, live performed by Brussels Philharmonic and the Flemish Radio Choir conducted by maestro Dirk Brossé.

As a partner of the EPAS Consortium we are glad to communicate that the first 9 EPAS-applicants have been accepted. There are still some places open to participate in the EPAS course, so we are launching a second call now! Applications are open until August 15th.

Through this campaign we aim to fund a unique Ryuichi Sakamoto album that is focused on his film and TV work rather than on his separate scores. The album will be recorded by Brussels Philharmonic and YOU get to decide which final track will be added to the list of already awesome scores!
