A-list composers to attend British Film Music Concert

George Fenton will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Great British Film Music Concert on October 22nd at Music Centre De Bijloke in Ghent. He will be attending the event joined by composers Michael Nyman, Patrick Doyle, Stephen Warbeck and Craig Armstrong as part of the Focus on British cinema of the 42nd Film Fest Gent (October 13 to 24, 2015).
The Walk's film music to premiere at the WSAwards

Music Director Dirk Brossé will lead Brussels Philharmonic in the world premiere of Alan Silvestri's new score he wrote for Robert Zemeckis' latest film 'The Walk' starring Jospeh Gordon Levitt at the World Soundtrack Awards. One of the songs will also be included in Film Fest Gent's upcoming Alan Silvestri Album.

Held on October 24th, the World Soundtrack Awards will celebrate its 15th anniversary with one of the most brilliant film composers of his generation, known for his scores of 'Back to the Future', 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit' and 'Forrest Gump'. Brussels Philharmonic and The Flemish Radio Choir will perform the compelling scores by Alan Silvestri, Lifetime Achievement Award Winner Patrick Doyle and Discovery of 2014 Daniel Pemberton, conducted by Dirk Brossé and accompanied by film fragments on the big screen.

Hans Zimmer, Alexandre Desplat, Johann Johannsson, Patrick Doyle and John Legend are some of the popular names among the first nominees released by the World Soundtrack Academy. The first nominees announced will be competing in the categories for Film Composer of the Year, Best Original Score of the Year and Best Original Song Written Directly for a Film. The 15th World Soundtrack Awards will be the closing event of Film Fest Gent on 24 October 2015 in Ghent.

Film Fest Gent will be recording and releasing an album with the scores of Alan Silvestri. The recording started today and will continue on 20 en 21 August at Flagey Studios in Brussels, recorded by Galaxy Studios and conducted by Dirk Brossé and performed by Brussels Philharmonic & Flemish Radio Choir.
