On Thursday 23 of October Spandau Ballet will perform after the screening of the new documentary 'Soul Boys of the Western World'. THAT MUCH IS TRUE!

Legendary band Spandau Ballet (known from hits like ‘True’ ‘Gold’, ‘Through The Barricades’ and many more) will be giving an exclusive live set in Vooruit during Film Fest Gent! After the screening of the drama documentary ‘Soul Boys of the Western World’, featuring only archive footage, the band will take over the scene of the Theaterhall for their first ever performance in Ghent and their first Belgian performance since 2010.

Spandau Ballet has just recorded 3 new songs with legendary record producer Trevor Horn, which will appear on their new collection 'The Story, The Very Best of Spandau Ballet'.

Film Fest Gent is extremely honoured to welcome back Gary Kemp and his fellow band members. Gary Kemp was in Ghent in 1990 to present his film 'The Krays' at Film Fest Gent.

'SOUL BOYS OF THE WESTERN WORLD' is a journey through the 1980s and beyond; the story of a band, an era and how one small gathering of outsiders in London shaped the entire world’s view of music and fashion. The film is not only a fascinating, often hard-hitting social and cultural document of the time, but a brutally honest story of how friendships can be won, lost and ultimately regained. George Hencken’s directorial debut tells the story of the meteoric rise and fall and ultimate reunion of Spandau Ballet, the 80s pop sensation, recounted by the band members themselves. Mark Adams, ScreenDaily, describes it as “an absorbing and insightful delve into how the band defined the post-punk UK music scene and went on to be an international phenomenon”. Spandau Ballet are one of Britain’s great iconic bands having sold over 25 million records, scored numerous multi-platinum albums and amassed 23 hit singles across the globe since their humble beginnings as a group of friends with dreams of stardom in the late 1970s. It wasn’t long before they became fully fledged members of the iconic Blitz Club scene and established themselves as one of the super-groups of the 80s. After two decades apart, the band reformed in 2009, embarking on a sold-out tour. 'Soul Boys of the Western World' marks the first time their story has been documented on film.
