In collaboration with Film Fest Gent Screen International devoted a special supplement on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the World Soundtrack Awards, launched by the World Soundtrack Academy and instigated by Film Fest Gent in 2001.

After going online for the 20th edition of the World Soundtrack Awards in 2020, the ceremony and concert were returning to a full physical event in 2021, which was a thrill for composers, delegates and the audience. Screen International devoted a special supplement to the nominees and guests of honour of the 21st edition, in collaboration with Film Fest Ghent.
Film Fest Ghent welcomes Mark Isham as guest of honour at the 22nd World Soundtrack Awards 20 Apr 2022
On Saturday 22 October 2022, Film Fest Ghent is proud to welcome the versatile American film composer and jazz artist Mark Isham as guest of honour of the 22nd edition of the World Soundtrack Awards. Isham's outstanding musical voice can be heard in the memorable scores for the numerous films on which he collaborated, such as Judas and the Black Messiah by Shaka King, Crash by Paul Haggis and Nell by Michael Apted which received a Golden Globe nomination for ‘Best Original Score’. Mark Isham also scored A River Runs Through It (Robert Redford) which received an Oscar nomination for 'Best Music' and a Grammy nomination for ‘Best Instrumental Composition for a Feature Film’. For Brian De Palma’s The Black Dahlia, Isham was awarded 'Best Score' by the International Film Music Critics Association.

49th Film Fest Ghent presents film music concert 'Korean Composers' 12 May 2022
On Thursday 20 October, Film Fest Ghent is putting the spotlight on Korean film music in the unique concert Korean Composers. Scores for the films such as the Oscar-winning Parasite and the hit series Squid Game will be performed live. South Korean cinema will also serve as the focus of the 49th edition of the festival, which runs from 11 to 22 October.

Film Fest Ghent launches its poster for the 49th edition. For the first time, a composer appears on the campaign image of the festival, which has a unique focus on film music for decades now. To highlight the art of composing and the importance of music in film, South Korean composer Jung Jae-il, known for his scores for Parasite and Squid Game, is front and centre of the poster of Film Fest Ghent 2022. His music will be performed live during the festival's film music concert Korean Composers on 20 October.
French composer Bruno Coulais to receive Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2022 World Soundtrack Awards 06 Jul 2022
At the 22nd edition of the World Soundtrack Awards - the annual film music awards of Film Fest Ghent - French composer Bruno Coulais will be celebrated for his contribution to the art of film music. The World Soundtrack Academy honours Coulais with a Lifetime Achievement Award. The World Soundtrack Awards will be presented at the end of the 49th edition of Film Fest Ghent during a ceremony and concert on Saturday 22 October.

Film Fest Gent and the World Soundtrack Academy announce the final wave of nominees for the prestigious World Soundtrack Awards 2022 in the categories Discovery of the Year, Public Choice Award, Best Original Score for a Belgian Production and the Sabam Award for Best Original Composition by a Young Composer. The list features lots of WSA newcomers, such as experimental band Son Lux, Japanese singer-songwriter Eiko Ishibashi and composer Batu Sener. Nainita Desai, Discovery of the Year 2021, continues her incredible trajectory as a possible winner of the Public Choice Award 2022. All nominees for the WSA2022 have now been revealed. The Academy also announces one winner: this year's WSA Industry Award goes to the Alliance for Women Film Composers.
