World Soundtrack Awards 2021 will honour Greek composer Eleni Karaindrou

The World Soundtrack Awards step into their third decade celebrating the art of film music by honouring Greek composer Eleni Karaindrou. Best known for her close collaboration with director Theo Angelopoulos, she will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award from the World Soundtrack Academy. The World Soundtrack Awards Ceremony & Concert will be held on 23 October 2021 as the traditional closing event of Film Fest Ghent (12 – 23 October 2021).

The 48th edition of Film Fest Ghent - with a focus on Greek cinema - welcomes back the annual film music concert after a trying year without live concerts. On Friday 22 October 2021, Film Fest Ghent presents in Opera Ghent the concert Great Greek Composers with film music by - among others - Eleni Karaindrou, Mikis Theodorakis and Evanthia Reboutsika. The day after, the best film and TV composers of the past year will be honoured at the prestigious World Soundtrack Awards.
Composer Max Richter is guest of honour at 21st World Soundtrack Awards

Held on 23 October 2021, the 21st edition of the World Soundtrack Awards will welcome the influential and internationally acclaimed composer Max Richter as its guest of honour. With scores for Mary Queen of Scots, HBO's The Leftovers, Waltz with Bashir, BBC's Taboo, the hit series My Brilliant Friend and almost a dozen solo albums (of which Sleep is an absolute landmark in modern classical music), Richter is one of the most innovative composers of our time.
Film Fest Ghent & Voo?uit reveal VIDEODROOM 2021

Film Fest Ghent and Arts Centre Voo?uit are collaborating for the fourth time for a new edition of VIDEODROOM. In October the festival will present exclusive nights that are bringing live music and film together. VIDEODROOM is taking place from 13 till 23 October. Tickets are now available.

Every year in October Film Fest Gent inhabits the city. The heart of the festival can be found within and around Kinepolis Gent, where you can enjoy countless screenings, take in the atmosphere at the festival square and enjoy drinks at the festival café. You can also attend various Film Fest Gent screenings at different locations in the city centre, like Studio Skoop, Sphinx Cinema, VIERNULVIER, De Koer and KASKcinema. The concerts take place at VIERNULVIER, Concertzaal MIRY and Muziekcentrum de Bijloke.
