This summer Cinema Canvas provides Flanders with outdoor screenings of film classics, selected by experts in the field. However, iconic films wouldn't be half as legendary without some iconic music to accompany them, so Cinema Canvas has released a compilation album!

World Soundtrack Awards and Film Fest Gent are celebrating 100 years of jazz with a Symphonic Jazz in Film Concert: the best symphonic jazz soundtracks of the past century accompanied by film excerpts on the big screen. On this special occasion two orchestras will join forces: Brussels Jazz Orchestra joins Brussels Philharmonic, and together they will perform jazzy scores conducted by maestro Dirk Brossé on October 19th at the Ghent Capitole.

The team behind the World Soundtrack Awards, Brussels Philharmonic and Terence Blanchard, the guest of honour at our WSA Gala & Concert, are teaming up to create a unique compilation album with some of his most extraordinary film scores, and you can decide which tracks are on it!

This first wave of the 2017 World Soundtrack Award Nominees includes multiple Academy Award® winners and nominees, a past Discovery of the Year nominee, and the best of contemporary film and television music.

After announcing the nominees for Best Composer, Score and Song, the World Soundtrack Academy now releases the second wave of nominees for Best Original Score for a Belgian Production, Discovery of the Year, SABAM Award for Most Original Composition by a Young International Composer and Public Choice Award.

Each year Film Fest Gent and World Soundtrack Awards organise a Film Music Seminar in collaboration with the KASK, School of Arts and curated by dr. Martine Huvenne and Peter Vermeersch. Year after year, important film music professionals teach participants about film music and/or sound design.

The recording of our Terence Blanchard compilation has been completed! The album has become a truly unique project. In this video, you'll discover why.

Film Fest Gent and arts centre Vooruit go way back when it comes to the presentation of our yearly programme, in which we explore the fringes of cinema in performances, lectures, music and theatre. We will be tightening our collaboration as of 2017, by bringing you a programme dedicated to the cross-pollination of image and music.

Jóhann Jóhannsson is nominated for no less than two World Soundtrack Awards. He is also performing at BOZAR Electronic Arts Festival later this month and you can be there!
