World Soundtrack Academy establishes new rules for World Soundtrack Awards eligibility

The World Soundtrack Academy, the premier organization preserving and celebrating the art of film music, has announced rule changes for World Soundtrack Awards eligibility. Most importantly, scores for feature-length documentary films will from now on be eligible for the WSAwards for Film Composer of the Year, Discovery of the Year and the Public Choice Award.

Call for film projects (in search of a composer)

During the annual WSA Industry Days at Film Fest Ghent, from 20 to 23 October 2021, Film Fest Ghent will collaborate with MCFIFA (MUSIC & CINEMA International Film Festival of Aubagne) and FIFF Namur (Festival International du Film Francophone de Namur) to organise a Belgian version of the Third Character initiative. Directors and producers who are looking for a composer for their film project can rely on FFG, MCFIFA and FIFF Namur to find a match with a suitable film music composer.
World Soundtrack Awards 2021 will honour Greek composer Eleni Karaindrou

The World Soundtrack Awards step into their third decade celebrating the art of film music by honouring Greek composer Eleni Karaindrou. Best known for her close collaboration with director Theo Angelopoulos, she will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award from the World Soundtrack Academy. The World Soundtrack Awards Ceremony & Concert will be held on 23 October 2021 as the traditional closing event of Film Fest Ghent (12 – 23 October 2021).

The 48th edition of Film Fest Ghent - with a focus on Greek cinema - welcomes back the annual film music concert after a trying year without live concerts. On Friday 22 October 2021, Film Fest Ghent presents in Opera Ghent the concert Great Greek Composers with film music by - among others - Eleni Karaindrou, Mikis Theodorakis and Evanthia Reboutsika. The day after, the best film and TV composers of the past year will be honoured at the prestigious World Soundtrack Awards.
