As an agent and manager, Robert Messinger has been instrumental in launching the film music careers of many of today's most exciting composers and is recognized as one of the leading music agents working in film. He is founder and owner of Fortress Talent Management. Messinger's clients include Oscar and Golden Globe-winners Howard Shore (Lord of the Rings, The Departed), Gustavo Santaolalla (Brokeback Mountain, Babel), Mychael Danna (Life of Pi, Moneyball), Rachel Portman (Chocolat, The Cider House Rules) and Ryuichi Sakamoto (The Revenant, The Last Emperor); Oscar and Golden Globe-nominees Nicholas Britell (Moonlight, If Beale Street Could Talk), Daniel Pemberton (Steve Jobs, Spider-man: Into the Spider-verse), Alberto Iglesias (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, The Constant Gardener), Philip Glass (The Hours, The Truman Show) and Clint Mansell (Black Swan, The Fountain); and Grammy-winners Bryce Dessner (The Two Popes, The Revenant) and David Holmes (Ocean’s Eleven, Killing Eve). Messinger began his career in music in the publicity department of IRS Records, working with bands such as REM, while attending UCLA as a Theater Arts major. He was co-founder and Senior Vice President of Blue Focus Management and co-owner of First Artists Management before starting Fortress Talent Management, a full-service boutique agency representing composers, music supervisors and recording artists for visual media. The company is also involved in stage musicals and has a significant presence in videogames and advertising.
