Marcos Souza
Audiovisual music composer, music supervisor (Guild Music Supervisor), and pianist, Marcos Souza produced and conceived the film about his family—his father Chico Mário and his uncles Henfil and Betinho—“3 Irmãos de Sangue (3 Blood Brothers),” directed by Angela Patrícia Reiniger. He was the music director of the film “Betinho – Uma Esperança Equilibrista,” directed by Victor Lopez, and composed the music for the films “Henfil,” by Angela Zoé; “Abdias Nascimento” and “Expedito,” by Aida Marques; “Angel Vianna” and “Iluminados,” by Cristina Leal; and “Ibiuna e Chico Mário – A Melodia da Liberdade,” by Silvio Tendler. Recently, he released the award-winning music video “Birds of Amsterdam,” by Bruno Sãnto.
Marcos also served as Director of the Music Center at Funarte (National Arts Foundation) of the Ministry of Culture; Music Director of the Orquestra Filarmônica de MG and Orquestra Ouro Preto; Marketing Manager of an online music aggregator in Spain at SGAE; produced several projects in the Netherlands; was Product Manager at TV Multirio; and is currently Project Director of the Orquestra Petrobras Sinfônica.
Marcos is President of Musimagem Brasil, Director of the Musimagem Festival in Brazil since 2015, and Director of the CSF – Composers Soundtracks Festival in the Netherlands since 2026.
