Andrew M. Edwards
Andrew M. Edwards is an award-winning media composer based in Southern California.
Andrew is currently scoring the dark comedy feature Amador County Has No Coroner with longtime collaborator Greg Emetaz. Previous film work includes the award-winning horror-comedy Camp Wedding, the noir-detective-stoner-comedy Somewhere Confidential (now streaming), and the forthcoming MMA feature, GAIA.
He recently completed the poignant documentary short A Pocket Guide to Pigeon Watching (directed by Adam Elliott). Their prior collaboration on the short documentary David Again won Best Short Documentary at the Beloit International Film Festival and screened at the Tribeca Film Festival.
For the world premiere of Rich Rubin’s play Dispersion of Light (2026) with Desert Ensemble Theatre, Andrew wrote an immersive, atmospheric score. With DET, he also created music and sound design for TRU (Desert Star Award nomination), God of Carnage, Beyond Therapy, The Roommate, Meteor Shower, and Knife to the Heart. With writer/director Jennifer Heaton, he co-wrote the musical, Kala: A Musical Faerie Tale, which is now available for community and high school theatre groups to affordably license and perform.
For the PBS documentary Chicago Stories: Downtown Disasters, Andrew created an energetic score in collaboration with the avant-garde classical musicians of Ensemble Dal Niente. He also scored the Global Music Award-winning '85: The Greatest Team in Football History, featuring President Barack Obama, Mike Ditka, Bill Murray, and a slew of Chicago luminaries.
His collaboration with author Richard Dinnick (Doctor Who, Lost in Space) includes the Big Finish Productions audio drama Doctor Who: The Companion Chronicles - The Wanderer (starring William Russell) and the original soundtrack for the 26-episode webcomic series ROB from Legendary Comics, featuring retro electronics and epic orchestral music.
Born in Urbana, IL, he performed in school ensembles before moving to New York City, where he worked as an audio engineer (including at the Tribeca Film Festival). He later taught in Columbia College Chicago’s MFA Music Composition for the Screen Program before relocating to Southern California in 2018. He was a 2021 Fellow of the Los Angeles Film Conducting Intensive, where studied with Hollywood legends Conrad Pope and William Ross.
Andrew lives in the Palm Springs area with his husband, Andrew, and their tailless rescue cat, Estrella.
