The 11th World Soundtrack Awards & Concert featuring music by such distinguished composers as Hans Zimmer, Howard Shore, Elliot Goldenthal and Abel Korzeniowski marks the end of the 38th Ghent Film Festival. The programme includes an amazing selection of music from several films, including Inception, The Lord Of The Rings, Alien 3 and A Single Man and will be performed by the Brussels Philharmonic conducted by Dirk Brossé. As always the live music will be accompanied by scenes from the films. So how does it work? Go to www.worldsoundtrackacademy.com, (select 'awards, public choice' in the left menu) take a look at the list of 80 films and pick your favourite soundtrack of the past year. The composer who gets the most votes will receive the Public Choice Award at the World Soundtrack Awards Ceremony on October 22nd. You can vote until September 15th, 2011. PriceWaterhouseCoopers will count the ballots for the Public Choice Award. Another important film-related concert will take place on October 12th at De Bijloke Music Centre: 'Film Music Masterpieces: Maestros Of Suspense'. The programme includes Bernard Herrmann's music for Psycho, Vertigo and Taxi Driver as well as Franz Waxman's music for Rebecca, Rear Window and Sunset Boulevard. This amazing selection of film music will be performed by the National Orchestra of Belgium, conducted by Dirk Brossé.
