Each year Film Fest Gent and the World Soundtrack Academy offer a young international talent a platform as a film music composer. Candidates of the Composition Contest for Young International Film Music Composers can follow in the footsteps of last year’s winner Cyril Molesti and countless other composers who attended previous editions of the festival.

This year the contest was launched internationally for the first time, with success! Composers from all over the world composed music for an excerpt out of Carol Reed’s ‘The Third Man’. More than a quarter of the submissions came from overseas. Last weekend a jury composed out of international film and music professionals selected the finalists, who will be announced next Wednesday 9 September 2015.

Meanwhile you can watch last year’s final compositions and the acceptance speech of the 2014 SABAM Award for Best Young European Composer’s winner Cyril Molesti.
