Belgian composer Dirk Brossé has been nominated for the soundtrack of the Dutch film 'In my fathers garden' ('Knielen op een bed violen') by Ben Sombogaart for the Golden Calf award. The soundtrack was recorded by Brussels Philharmonic, with whom Brossé has a long-standing collaboration.

Brussels Philharmonic, no stranger to the film world, is also the orchestra-in-residence at Film Fest Gent, of which Dirk Brossé is the music director. Together they recorded earlier this week a CD with music by composer Ryuichi Sakamoto, who will be at the 16th World Soundtrack Awards to personally receive the Lifetime Achievement Award. As well as for In my fathers garden, Brussels Philharmonic (known for The Artist) also recorded Merlijn Snitker’s nominated soundtrack for Public Works.

The winners of the Golden Calves will be announced at the L’OR Golden Calves Gala in the Beatrix Theater Utrecht (NL) on Friday september 30, the closing night of the Netherlands Film Festival Festival. The L’OR Golden Calves Gala will be streamed live at www.filmfestival.nl from 19h30 and aired live on Dutch television from 20h30.
