The combo tickets for the Film Music Seminar & Industry Day have arrived! Enjoy a two-day trip through the creative and practical aspects of composing film, TV and documentary music on Monday 17 & Tuesday 18 October, and learn from experts such as Ryuichi Sakamoto, Jeff Beal and Jeff Russo. Also Karsten Fundal and Johan Grimonprez, who worked together on the documentary 'Shadow World', confirmed. And don't forget to network!

Although the programmes of the Film Music Seminar and the WSAwards Industry Day offer essential information on composing for film, documentary and TV series, they can also be combined for an in-depth and total overview. These industry events are a unique opportunity for professionals as well as students/starters to find the often hidden information that is so important for this specialized segment of the music business.

WSAwards Industry Day, 17 October, from 09:00 till 18:00, Conservatory Ghent

The WSAwards Industry Day is the place to be for young composers, film-makers and professionals in the film music industry to learn, debate and network.

If you want to elaborate your practical knowledge of the film and TV (music) industry, you can follow a series of specific introductions by national and international professionals and representatives from the industry. Furthermore, you can follow panel discussions about hot topics with prominent, international professionals and composers.

Speakers include composers Ryuichi Sakamoto, Jeff Beal, Karsten Fundal, Frans Bak, Jean-Paul Wall and Steve Willaert, and industry professionals Wim Coryn, Patrick Ager, Luc Gulinck and Natalie Baartz.

Moderators are Patrick Duynslaegher (Artistic Director Film Fest Gent) and Dr Vasco Hexel (Royal College of Music, London).

Film Music Seminar, 18 October from 09:30 till 16:30, Kinepolis Ghent

The line between high end TV drama and film is becoming thinner than ever. What does that mean for the creative process of scoring for visual media? Japanese composer Ryuichi Sakamoto (‘The Revenant’), American composers Jeff Beal (‘House of Cards’) & Jeff Russo (‘Fargo’), Danish composer Karsten Fundal & director Johan Grimonprez, who worked together on 'Shadow World', will engage in a lively masterclass moderated by Dr Martine Huvenne.
