Edition 2011
Not music but sound design will be the focus of this year's film music seminar, which Film fest Gent organises annually with KASK (Hogeschool Gent). The lecturer on duty is Walter Murch, legendary image and sound designer who helped make blockbusters such as Apocalypse Now, The Godfather and The English Patient.
Murch is regarded by many as the greatest image and sound technician of his generation. Working with the likes of Francis Ford Coppola and Anthony Minghella, Walter Murch made film history, rewarding him with three Oscars. He never considered sound design as a purely technical matter, but always gave his work a more artistic content. During this film music seminar, he looks back at the highlights of his career and gives a unique insight into his working methods.
