4th World Soundtrack Awards Concert & Ceremony

Edition 2004

On 9 October 2004, the international film music scene gather in Ghent for the 4th edition of the World Soundtrack Awards, the prestigious film music prizes of Film Fest Gent.

The tradition to put upcoming Belgian talent in the spotlight continues with Sioen (Team Spirit 2). The Discovery of 2003 is also present, Antonio Pinto brings a few songs from his scores for Behind the Sun, Nina, and Collateral.

Alan and Marilyn Bergman are presented the Lifetime Achievement Award for their fantastic contribution to film music. The Bergmans often worked with and for Barbra Streisand and have no less than three Oscars on their name. Together with the Flemish Radio orchestra, Alan Bergman plays some songs from two of them, The Thomas Crown Affair and The Way We Were.

The main event of the evening is the music of the renowned Belgian composer, Wim Mertens (Belly of an Architect, Between the Devil & the Deep Blue Sea). Tributes will be paid to composers Elmer Bernstein (Ten Commandments, Magnificent Seven), David Raksin (Laura) and Michael Kamen (Robin Hood prince of Thieves, Mr Holland's Opus). As usual, the evening will be accompanied by the Flemish Radio Orchestra conducted by Dirk Brossé.
