During the anniversary edition of Film Festival Gent, we can also expect musical highlights during the WSA Ceremony & Concert. The concert by composer Patrick Doyle will feature guest appearances by Hooverphonic and Klaus Badelt. In addition, film composer Maurice Jarre will be our Guest of Honour. For the third time, the prestigious World Soundtrack Awards will be presented, proof that film music remains very close to our hearts.
We are delighted to welcome the internationally acclaimed composer Patrick Doyle, who will share the stage with the Belgian electronic band Hooverphonic, and Klaus Badelt, the WSA Discovery of 2002. Doyle, the WSA Soundtrack Composer of the Year in both 2001 and 2002, will play some of his best-known film scores, including those from Carlito’s Way and Sense & Sensibility. Another highlight of the evening will be the presentation of the World Soundtrack Lifetime Achievement Award to Maurice Jarre, a three-time Oscar winner who is well known for his music for films such as Dr Zhivago and Lawrence of Arabia.
