This year’s edition of Film Fest Gent brings together a notable group of guests to highlight its central theme: the influence of music on film. The 10th anniversary edition of the World Soundtrack Awards Ceremony is held at Kuipke Ghent, offering a broad audience the chance to experience standout film music from the past decade, performed by Brussels Philharmonic and conducted by Dirk Brossé.
Masters such as the unforgettable Maurice Jarre and the always-enthusiastic Elmer Bernstein and WSA’s 2009 Discovery of the Year, Nico Muhly, attend the Ceremony for the performance of their groundbreaking film music. On this special occasion, the World Soundtrack Academy reflects on all those who have performed at past concert evenings and helped bring film music into the spotlight.
This year, we have the honor to reward John Barry with the Lifetime Achievement Award, who with his Midas touch has composed scores for more than ninety films.
