Graduate of Polish studies and sociology at the Jagiellonian University and the Universitè d’Aix Marseille in Aix en Provence, cultural diplomacy at Collegium Civitas in Warsaw, holder of the “Promoting Social Change through Arts” scholarship, granted by the US Department of State. One of the founders and first presidents of the Pro Musica Mundi Association, Chevalier of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, and winner of the Cracovian of the Year 2013 title, awarded in the plebiscite organised by Dziennik Polski.

He is responsible for the programming department of the Festival Office, carrying out the policies of the city in the area of culture, coordinating the flagship festivals, such as Misteria Paschalia, Opera Rara, Sacrum Profanum as well as Milosz and Conrad literary festivals. Robert Piaskowski serves as artistic director and coordinator of the Krakow Film Music Festival – currently the largest and the most valued festival of this genre of music worldwide. He is also responsible for integration and communication of operations of national and international local government and non-governmental organisations. Co-author of Krakow’s application for the Creative Cities Network, as well as coordinator of the UNESCO Krakow – City of Literature programme, originator of the idea of connecting the libraries in the city, as well as one of the originators of the idea of joining the ICORN Cities of Refuge Network. Head of the Workgroup for creation of the Centre of Literature and Language in Sklad Solny – a multifunctional literary centre in the Zablocie district.
