The recording of our Terence Blanchard compilation has been completed! The album has become a truly unique project. In this video, you'll discover why.

Film Fest Gent is eager to put film composers in the spotlights during the World Soundtrack Awards, but we also want to spread their music for film in other ways. With that in mind, we annually organise the crowdfunding and production of a unique compilation album of one particular film composer. Over the years, we have recorded soundtracks by Gabriel Yared, Angelo Badalamenti, Alan Silvestri and Ryuichi Sakamoto. Since 2015, a crowdfunding campaign is held to cover the production costs of the album.

This year, the jazzy film scores of Terence Blanchard have been bundled. He is one of the most productive and successful jazz composers in the film industry of the past 20 years, so he definitely deserves a spot on this list, especially in this celebration year for jazz.

The best of his soundtracks have been recorded by Brussels Philharmonic & jazz soloists conducted by Maestro Dirk Brossé, and released on a unique compilation album, which will be available for purchase at the festival and later on our website. The playlist of the record includes tracks from '25th Hour', 'She Hate Me', 'Inside Man', 'Malcolm X', and many more.

Terence Blanchard is the guest of honour at the 17th World Soundtrack Awards Gala & Concert (18 October). Tickets are on sale here. He will also speak during the Film Music Seminar, in which he will discuss with dr. Martine Huvenne & Peter Vermeersch about his collaboration with Spike Lee and the relation between jazz & film. 19 October, the WSA organise a press conference + meet & greet, where he will be present as well.
