FINAL CALL: Composition Contest for Young International Composers
Every year, Film Fest Gent and the World Soundtrack Academy offer young talent the opportunity to win renown as a film music composer. Candidates must be under 36 years old and will be asked to compose music for a scene from the Japanese animated war drama 'Grave of the Fireflies' by the late director Isao Takahata.
A jury composed out of international film and music professionals will carefully select the final compositions. These finalists (3) will be invited to a fantastic three-day visit in Ghent where they will have the chance to get in touch with international film music professionals.
Brussels Philharmonic, conducted by maestro Dirk Brossé, will perform the three compositions at the 18th World Soundtrack Awards on October 17th at the prestigious Capitole in Ghent. Afterwards, the winner of the contest will be announced. He or she will receive Spitfire Audio's presitigious sampling product 'Hans Zimmer Strings' and the SABAM award worth €2,500!
