The 2019 Film Fest Gent album 'Marco Beltrami: Music for Film' has been nominated for an IFMCA Award in the category 'Best New Archival Release - Compilation'. These annual awards, organised by International Film Music Critics Association, celebrate the best film music and film music releases of the year.

This is the second year in a row that the Film Fest Gent compilation is nominated in this category. Last year 'Carter Burwell: Music for Film' was nominated, and in 2015 the album 'World Soundtrack Awards: Alan Silvestri'. The Film Fest Gent recordings are conducted by music director Dirk Brossé and performed by Brussels Philharmonic.

The other contenders for the IFMCA Award in the category 'Best New Archival Release - Compilation' are 'Across the Stars' (John Williams), 'The Disaster Movie Soundtrack Collection' (John Williams), 'Nevada Smith: The Paramount Westerns Collection' (various composers) and 'Planet of the Apes: The Original Film Series Soundtrack Collection' (Jerry Goldsmith, Leonard Rosenman, Tom Scott). 'Across the Stars' and 'Marco Beltrami: Music for Film' are the only nominated compilations that consist of new recordings.

In the other categories some of the nominations have gone to 2019 World Soundtrack Awards winners: Hildur Guðnadóttir, Michael Abels and John Powell. See here for an overview of all the nominees. The International Film Music Critics Association will announce the winners of the 16th IFMCA Awards on 20 February.
