WSA Talent
Composition Contest
For a chance to win the Sabam Award for Best Original Composition by a Young Composer, composers under the age of 36 are challenged to write a short new composition. Three finalists are invited to all film music events at Film Fest Gent. Their compositions are performed live in world premiere at the World Soundtrack Awards by Brussels Philharmonic, conducted by Dirk Brossé.
Third Character
This project aims to facilitate meetings between film composers, directors and producers. Selected composers are invited to meet duos of producers and directors working on a film project in development during the WSA Film Music Days in Ghent.
FFG Sessions
Experienced composers present their own work and bring select pieces of their oeuvre together with students of KASK & Conservatory. Re-arranged for a small ensemble, the music is performed in the intimate setting of the MIRY Concertzaal after a hands-on rehearsal with the composer.
Creative Partnership Lab
The WSA Creative Partnership Lab invites three young filmmakers and three young composers for screen to discover the programme of the WSA Film Music Days together and immerse themselves in the world of film music. With this lab we strive to bring the worlds of filmmakers and composers closer together and to facilitate better communication between the two.
Student Matchmaking
At the annual WSA Film Music Days, students can meet their peers during a matchmaking event. Based on the profiles, we match (film) music students to film or game development students.
Student Access to WSA Film Days
During the WSA Film Music Days international film (music) professionals gather for talks, masterclasses, workshops, concerts and more. Film Fest Gent wants to also give film (music) and game development students the opportunity to learn, listen and network. During the WSA Film Music Days students are invited to come together for a unique programme, especially targeted towards future film & film music professionals.
