CYRIL MORIN BIOGRAPHY
Cyril Morin is an award-winning, multi-hyphenate artist—composer, filmmaker, and writer—whose work bridges music, cinema, and literature. With a career spanning more than two decades, he is internationally recognized for a distinctive, cult-like sonic identity and a deeply personal cinematic voice.

Cyril Morin has composed more than 150 original soundtracks for feature films, television, documentaries, and series. His credits include Samsara (dir. Pan Nalin), The Syrian Bride (dir. Eran Riklis), Little Jerusalem (dir. Karin Albou), Cold Meat (dir. Sébastien Drouin), The Human Resources Manager, Zaytoun, the critically acclaimed series Borgia (showrunner Tom Fontana) and Mafiosa (dir. Louis Choquette).

Morin received a World Soundtrack Award and European Film Award nominations for The Syrian Bride, which also earned him multiple Best Score awards. His score for Little Jerusalem, presented during Critics’ Week at the Cannes Film Festival, won several major festival prizes. His long-term collaboration with Eran Riklis continued onPlayoff,The Human Resources Manager(Best Score, Valladolid Film Festival), and Zaytoun, which received a Jerry Goldsmith Award nomination.
His breakthrough score for Samsara earned multiple international awards and established him as a cult composer with a devoted global following. The soundtrack remains an international success and continues to attract new audiences. Morin went on to collaborate extensively with director Pan Nalin, composing the music for more than a dozen of his films, including Angry Indian Goddesses, Faith Connections (Jerry Goldsmith Award nomination), and Last Film Show, which was shortlisted for the 2023 Academy Awards (India’s official entry).

Cyril Morin has also worked on numerous TV features, documentaries, and critically acclaimed series "Mafiosa" (dir. Louis Choquette), "Borgia" (showrunner Tom Fontana) and Emmy-winning “17 October 1961” (dir. Alain Tasma).

His recent international projects includeSira(dir. Apolline Traoré), screened at the Berlin and Toronto Film Festivals and selected as Burkina Faso’s 2024 Academy Awards entry;Cold Meat, number one on Paramount+ UK, nominee atFrightFest London, and winner at Fantasporto; and The Child Who Measured the World (dir. Takis Candilis), premiered at the Champs-Élysées Film Festival in 2024.

Morin has produced more than 40 albums, including soundtracks and solo works, released through his own labelMedia in Sync Studio. As a solo artist,The Evolutionist was acclaimed as a “cinematic journey” and a “beautiful fusion of sound.”

He has orchestrated and conducted for major international artists including Madonna. (Paradise), Mirwais (Never young again), Kery James (Pleure en silence), Mankato (Safe as Houses), and Indian classical singer Vidya Rao (Song for Shunyata).

As a filmmaker, Cyril Morin has written, directed, and produced several feature films, including The Activist, Hacker’s Game Redux, and NY84. His films explore political and social themes through a personal lens and have earned extensive international recognition.

His most recent documentary, One Voice: Searching for Michael Spears, portrays Lakota Sioux actor Michael Spears. The film was selected for the Red Nation International Film Festival in Los Angeles and received the Doc Without Borders Award, with multiple nominations across international festivals in 2025.

Expanding his creative work into literature, Morin writes under the pseudonym “Cymo”, author of the Human Series (Human without End & Human without Body in 2026). His upcoming novel, The Activist, a novelization of his first movie, will be published in 2026 under his own name.

A strong advocate for composers and creators, Cyril Morin is a co-founder of the French composers’ unions in the early 2000s and a member of SACEM, ASCAP, The SCL, and the World Soundtrack Academy. Since 2021, he has served as Artistic Director of the Apulia Soundtrack Awards (Italy), supporting emerging composers while honoring outstanding international talent.

Cyril Morin is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and is widely respected as an artist whose work seamlessly connects music, cinema, and literature.
