The voting for the 2023 WSAwards has now officially started and we look forward to receiving your votes over the summer!

You have received a separate email with all necessary instructions, but we are happy to give you the most important information with some further details in this WSAcademy newsletter.

Vote now for the World Soundtrack Awards 2023

All WSAcademy members can cast their vote in these 3 categories: Film Composer of the Year, Television Composer of the Year and Best Original Song.

HOW TO CAST YOUR VOTE

1. Log in to your MyFFG account.

2. In your MyFFG, under the WSA Voting tab, you can go to our secured voting platform. There you will be able to see all categories in which you can vote.

3. Cast your vote!

  • Click on the icon next to the film title to listen to the soundtrack.

  • Select your top five composers who produced the best body of work in film, in television, and the five best songs written for film or television in the past year (in no particular order)

4. Click SUBMIT to validate your vote per category

You can find most of the nominated scores and songs in our Spotify playlist. However, not every soundtrack is on Spotify. If you cannot find it in the list, take a look at the voting platform, which contains more score.

The voting rounds

First voting round

  • From 1 July until 30 July, 23:59 (W. Europe Standard Time)
  • You can vote for your top 5 composers/songs from the nomination longlist
  • This round will determine the 5 nominees for the second round

Second voting round

  • From beginning of August until 21 August, 23:59 (W. Europe Standard Time)
  • You can vote for your favourite composer/song
  • This round will determine the winners

Note: WSA Discovery & Best Original Score for a Belgian Production
Our WSA Advisory Board Members have now also started the voting process for both categories. The nominees will be announced mid-September.

Vote for the World Soundtrack Public Choice Award en Game Music Award

The voting has now also started for the WSA Public Choice Award 2023 and the Game Music Award 2023. The fans and general public have the chance to vote on their favourite score of the past year. As a WSAcademy member, we of course invite you to vote as well and to share the news with your peers and social media followers!

Find more information about these awards here and listen to the two longlists on Spotify: you can find the Public Choice playlist here, and the Game Music playlist here. Keep in mind that not all eligible scores are available on Spotify.

19.10 | PRESS PLAY: Music in Games

The word is out! During our very first game music concert, which will take place on 19 October, Brussels Philharmonic will perform music from several of the most impressive video games of the past years. Conducted by maestro Dirk Brossé, they will play music from Bear McCreary's God of War Ragnarök, Gordy Haab and Stephen Barton's Star Wars: Jedi Survivor and Jessica Curry's Everybody's Gone to the Rapture. Among many others, Peter McConnel's soundtrack of Hearthstone and Michael Giacchino's score for Medal of Honour are officially added to the programme. And last but not lease, Lena Raine's soundtrack for Celeste will receive its orchestral world premiere.
