It’s the time of the year when as a WSAcademy member you can submit composers and songs for consideration for the 2022 World Soundtrack Awards in the categories 'Film Composer of the Year', 'Television Composer of the Year', 'Best Original Song' and 'Discovery of the Year’.

To submit please go through the following steps:


The eligibility period of this year is 16 June 2022 - 15 June 2022. You can find all the eligibility criteria in the WSA Rule Book.

From this year onwards, eligible composers that are Academy members won't have to pay a registration fee for the ‘Discovery of the Year” Award. If you want to submit a composer that is not a member of the Academy, please fill in the form with registration fee.

Submissions are open until 15 June 2022.

Membership renewal for 2022

We noticed that you haven't yet renewed your WSA membership for 2022. If you would like to do so, make sure you are logged into your MyFFG account, then fill in this form and pay the membership fee. Deadline for registration to be able to vote is 15 June 2022. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact our music project coordinator at sophie@filmfestival.be.

Mark Isham WSA 2022
American film composer Mark Isham is our guest of honour

The word is out! On Saturday 22 October 2022 we will welcome the American film composer and jazz artist Mark Isham as our guest of honour of the 22nd edition of the World Soundtrack Awards. Isham's outstanding musical voice can be heard in the memorable scores for the numerous films on which he collaborated, such as Judas and the Black Messiah, Crash and Nell. We are also excited to welcome back the incredible Nainita Desai, who won the Discovery of the Year Award for her score for the documentary The Reason I Jump.

WSA2022 Composition Contest still Nosferatu
WSA Film Music Composition Contest 2022... Take your chance!

It is still possible for screen composers under the age of 36 to participate in this year's WSA Film Music Composition Contest and to win the Sabam Award for Best Original Composition by a Young Composer (worth €2.500) at the World Soundtrack Awards Ceremony & Concert. This year's contestants are invited to write a score for a scene from Nosferatu, Murnau's timeless classic which celebrates its 100th birthday. The excerpt from the movie shows the menacing Count Orlok on a ship haunting yet another victim by arising from his coffin. Deadline to participate: 17 May.
