Here in Ghent we are in full swing with the preparations for the upcoming WSA submissions and the WSA Film Music Days (14 - 16 October). In this WSAcademy newsletter you can read all about the upcoming submission process and the first concert announcements. No other than Grammy-nominee Debbie Wiseman will be this year's Guest of Honour.

We noticed that you haven't renewed your WSAcademy membership for 2025. If you would like to stay member of this vibrant community, please register before 15 June. You can do so by logging in to your personal MyFFG account, completing this form and paying the membership fee. WSA Concert I 15 Oct. 2025

We are proud to announce British composer and conductor Debbie Wiseman as this year's Guest of Honour. At the 25th anniversary edition of the WSA Ceremony & Concert, Brussels Philharmonic will pay tribute to the composer of iconic scores like Tom & Viv, To Olivia and Wilde and perform a selection of her work.

Get ready to submit your scores!

As an Academy member, you can submit your own scores or those you love for consideration. To get you started, we've put down the essentials:

  • Submissions will be open from 15 April until 15 June.
  • Only academy members can submit scores for 4 categories: Film Composer of the Year, Television Composer of the Year, Best Original Song and the WSA Game Music Award.
  • WSAcademy membership is not required to submit for the categories Discovery of the Year and Belgian Film Composer of the Year. There is a registration fee. However, eligible composers who are members of the WSAcademy are waived from this fee when registering.
  • New this year: the award Belgian Film Composer of the Year Powered by Sabam crowns a body of work in film written by a Belgian composer.

Elephant man 2
WSA Composition Contest 2025

What does rejection sound like? Participants of this year's WSA Composition Contest (under the age of 36) are invited to score an excerpt from David Lynch's The Elephant Man. The three finalists will be invited to the WSA Concert, where their compositions will be performed. Registrations are open until 12 May 2025.
