The voting for the 2022 WSAwards has now officially started and we look forward to receiving your votes over the summer!

You have received a separate email with all necessary instructions, but we are happy to give you the most important information with some further details in this WSAcademy newsletter.

World Soundtrack Awards 2021 - Daniel Pemberton

Vote now for the World Soundtrack Awards 2022

All WSAcademy members can cast their vote in these 3 categories: Film Composer of the Year, Television Composer of the Year and Best Original Song.

HOW TO CAST YOUR VOTE

1. Log in to your MyFFG account.

2. In your MyFFG, under the WSA Voting tab, you can go to our secured voting platform. There you will be able to see all categories in which you can vote.

3. Cast your vote!

Click on the icon next to the film title to listen to the soundtrack.
Select your top five composers who produced the best body of work in film, in television, and the five best songs written for film or television in the past year (in no particular order)

4. Click SUBMIT to validate your vote per category

Spotify playlist

You can listen to most of the nominated scores and songs on our Spotify playlist here. However, not every soundtrack is on Spotify. If you cannot find it in the list, take a look at the voting platform, which contains every score.

The voting rounds

First voting round:

From 1 July until 31 July, 23:59 (W. Europe Standard Time)
You can vote for your top 5 composers/songs from the nomination longlist
This round will determine the 5 nominees for the second round

Second voting round:

From beginning of August until 22 August, 23:59 (W. Europe Standard Time)
You can vote for your favourite composer/song
This round will determine the winners

Note: WSA Discovery & Best Original Score for a Belgian Production
Our WSA Advisory Board Members have now also started the voting process for both categories. The nominees will be announced mid-September.

Vote now for the World Soundtrack Public Choice Award 2022

The voting has now also started for the WSA Public Choice Award. The fans and general public have the chance to vote on their favourite score of the past year. As a WSAcademy member, we of course invite you to vote as well and to share the news with your peers and social media following!

Find more information about our Public Choice Award here and listen to the longlist on Spotify. Keep in mind that not all eligible scores are available on Spotify; to listen to all scores, go to our voting platform.

Jung Jae-il on poster FFG2022

For the first time, a composer appears on the campaign image of Film Fest Gent! Meet Jung Jae-il, known for his scores for Parasite and Squid Game. His music will be played at the Korean Composers concert on Thursday 20 October, a concert entirely devoted to the best that Korean music for screen has to offer. The Brussels Philharmonic, conducted by Maestro Dirk Brossé, will perform music by Jung Jae-il, as well as from Cho Young-Wuk, the go-to composer of Park Chan-wook (Joint Security Area, Oldboy, The Handmaiden, Decision to Leave).
