We look back to a successful edition of the 2022 WSA Film Music Days with spectacular performances, insightful talks and beautiful award winners. We want to thank you and all WSAcademy members for your submissions, votes and participation to the WSAward Ceremony. The music, the voices and the vibrant atmosphere still echo all over Ghent.

With this WSAcademy newsletter we like to take you back to last October, with videos of the acceptance speeches, recordings of the performances, talks and masterclasses.

We are already in full preparation for the 2023 edition! Of course, we are hoping you are able to renew your membership (see below). Don't forget to already mark your calendars for the WSA on Saturday 21 October 2023 in Ghent.

The World Soundtrack Awards Ceremony & Concert 2022 was a truly fantastic night. Film music talent from all over the world gathered in Ghent to celebrate the art of scoring for film and tv. Below you can find what the winners had to say after winning their award.

Lifetime Achievement Award

Visibly overwhelmed and emotional, French composer Bruno Coulais (Himalaya, Coraline) accepted the 2022 Lifetime Achievement Award after an eloquent ode to the composer's work by colleague and friend Gabriel Yared.

Billie Eilish & Finneas O'Connell

Best Original Song

Superstars Billie Eilish & Finneas O'Connell couldn't make it to Ghent, but they did thank the WSA via video. The duo won the award for Best Original Song for their hit song "No Time to Die" for the latest James Bond entry.

Public Choice Award

"There is not just excellence, there is genius." Joseph Metcalfe gave an endearing and inspiring speech after winning the Public Choice Award together with John Coda & Grant Kirkhope for The King's Daughter.

Discovery of the Year

Japanese singer-songwriter-composer Eiko Ishibashi won the Discovery of the Year Award for her mesmerising, jazzy score for the Oscar-winning film Drive My Car. Her music will be performed at the WSA2023!

WSA2022: Mark Isham & Brussels Philharmonic - Suite from The Black Dahlia

Composer and jazz artist Mark Isham hasn't lost any of his genius on the trumpet. He himself took to the stage to perform a suite from Brian De Palma's The Black Dahlia (2006).

Korean Composers concert: Lee Byeong-woo & Brussels Philharmonic - A Tale of Two Sisters

One of Korea's best guitarists, Lee Byeong-woo joined the Brussels Philharmonic for a performance of "Lullaby" from A Tale of Two Sisters (2003).
