After the overwhelming concert at Sportpaleis in Antwerp, Ennio Morricone has chosen the Saint Peter’s Square in Ghent for two exclusive shows in the Benelux. On Saturday 25th and Sunday June 26th 2016 (extra show!) his fans and the press will witness a concert by the maestro at the impressive location of the Saint Peter’s Square, with the beautiful Saint Peter’s Abbey in the background.
Oscar for the maestro
This last year has been one of the best of his career for the Italian composer. Morricone received a Golden Globe Award, a BAFTA and an OSCAR for his musical contribution to Quentin Tarantino’s film 'The Hateful Eight'.
The internationally acclaimed 87-year old film composer will perform at Saint Peter’s Square with a symphonic orchestra consisting of 200 musicians and an impressive polyphonic choir. He will bring a personal ‘Best of’ selection from his entire career. Morricone composed the soundtracks for more than 500 films and tv shows. The most famous examples are ‘The Good, the Bad and the Ugly’, ‘For a few dollars more’, ‘Once upon a time in the West’ and ‘The Mission’.
Unique location Saint Peter’s Square
Ennio Morricone chose a couple of unexpected open air locations for his world tour, including the Blenheim Palace in Oxford. In the past he performed at the arena in Verona, the Parthenon in Athens and at the Piazza San Marco in Venice. Now he is adding Saint Peter’s Square in Ghent to that list.
In 2010 and 2012, Leonard Cohen gave 8 sold out shows in Ghent for a staggering 64 000 people. Prince performed 2 sold out shows in 2011. These concerts were also organised by Greenhouse Talent.
Due to the high demand of tickets, a second show has been added. Ennio Morricone will also perform on Sunday June 26th at Saint Peter’s Square. Tickets for the concert on June 25th (very last tickets!) and June 26th are available via www.ticketmaster.be and Fnac.
Greenhouse Talent wants to emphasize tickets are only available via these two selling points. Tickets from other selling points may not grant you entry to the event.
