43 years of festival history, from 1974 until 2016!
18th World Soundtrack Awards
What makes Film Fest Gent unique in the fully booked festival calendar is the focus on music and the celebration of the film composer, unfortunately often the forgotten key figure in the artistic and/or commercial success of a film. Not at Film Fest Gent, however. At the 18th World Soundtrack Awards, we proudly announced the premiere of Carter Burwell's music by a symphonic orchestra - Brussels Philharmonic conducted by Dirk Brossé.
Next to that, we organized '2001 and Beyond: A Symphonic Odyssey', a concert dedicated to the 50th birthday of Stanley Kubricks masterpiece '2001: A Space Odyssey'. 2018 also marked the first edition of VIDEODROOM, a collaboration between Film Fest Gent and Vooruit where artists and audiences explored a new universe at the intersection between music, films and visuals. Each time it concerned unique crossover productions.
