During the 1960s, and at a very early age, David was taken to many films where the music made a big impression with particular emphasis on the scores of John Barry and Ennio Morricone. A decade later and he was working at a cinema in the 1970s and heard many of the classic scores from this period.

Studying biochemistry at University came with the opportunity of taking an arts course and meeting with John Huntley, author of ‘British Film Music’. Working with him led to writing extensively about film music for course work which, in turn, led to being appointed as soundtrack reviewer for Films, Films & Filming and Photoplay magazines. Later media work came with “Cinema 2” on BBC’s Radio 2 during the 1990s as contributing film music reviewer.

Work in the music industry began with four years at That’s Entertainment Records and then joining Silva Screen Records in 1988. Having shown no sign of leaving, he has been given much work to do which has resulted in the release of many albums of film and television music, old and new, across all genres.
