After working in advertising entered the music industry as PA to the Fontana label manager. During the next five years worked at Philips Records (where we met!), RCA Records, Essex Music and a year in the international artist department at Barclay Records in Paris.
Spent 4 years at Mike Gill Associates, a specialist music industry PR company whose clients included Rod Stewart, The Small Faces, Dusty Springfield, Tim Hardin, Status Quo, Jerry Lee Lewis and others. Also Artist Relations and International Manager with GM and Riva Records, two companies within the same group, which was headed by Billy Gaff, the long time manager of Rod Stewart.
Joined Chappell Aznavour/Creative Talent Associates in 1975 and spent the next two years working with Charles Aznavour and the US band Three Dog Night. Routinely organised both artist’s concert tours, tv and radio appearances and general liaison with the entertainment media.
For 3 years in the late 70’s was International Manager of Andrew Heath Music, a London music publishing company with offices in Hamburg and Vienna. The company also became a partner in Ronnie Bond Music and I marketed and promoted that business to become a leading jingles and commercial operation in the UK and Germany.
Took a break from the music biz and until 1983 was a partner in the award winning Buttercup Designs, a London based fashion accessories company, designing and selling ground breaking ranges of handbags, schoolbags, evening bags and jewellery. Responsible for worldwide sales, marketing and promotion and was instrumental in taking the business from a ‘cottage industry’ base in North London to Far East manufacture.
By 1983 Olav had to hire more staff and I decided to join him and we’ve worked together ever since in our ‘family business’.
