The first breakthrough of Jan De Block was a TV tune for a sunday night prime time TV show, together with Jo Casters (Poesie Noire, Erotic Dissidents). It was the start of an intense cooperation.
A few years later, Jan started his own rollercoaster journey of TV tunes and music for commercial movies. 10 years ago, Jan’s focus shifted to songwriting. Together with Odette Di Maio (Italy) he founded Miss O. The duo released several albums. Jan also works with Kyoko Baertsoen (ex-Hooverphonic, Lunascape), as co-writer/producer. A first full album KYOKO was released early 2017.
Dedicated to fragile filmic piano compositions, Silent Noise Revolution is Jan’s most recent project. Early 2016, Jan started to release fragile piano music blended with minimalistic electronic soundscapes. Since then, his music was selected by Nils Frahm to feature on the annual Piano Day playlist on Soundcloud (piano day is the 88th day of the year). During live piano performances, he is using modular synthesizers to generate soundscapes. Currently, Jan is also writing and producing new songs with Kyoko Baertsoen.
Jan is specifically looking for film projects that match with his fragile piano music. His signature is a balanced mix of fragile and romantic piano with abstract sounds and noise.
